Ilhan Omar: ‘A united progressive movement’ would defeat Biden

Rep. Ilhan Omar urged liberals to rally together to stop Joe Biden as the former vice president ran away with several Super Tuesday contests.

Tweeting at the end of Super Tuesday, the Minnesota Democrat who endorsed Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders appeared to call on the other left-wing candidate in the race, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren, to rally to their cause to counter the rising centrist tide.

“Imagine if the progressives consolidated last night like the moderates consolidated, who would have won? That’s what we should be analyzing. I feel confident a united progressive movement would have allowed for us to #BuildTogether and win MN and other states we narrowly lost,” said Omar, who rallied with Sanders on Monday evening in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Biden received a wave of high-profile endorsements in the days leading up to Super Tuesday. Rep. Jim Clyburn helped boost him to victory in South Carolina on Saturday, and former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar then dropped out of the 2020 contest and endorsed Biden.
